The addition covered 4.60 million fibre km per annum of fibre, 5.64 million fibre km of cable and 300 tonnes per annum of preform, funded through internal accruals, proceeds of warrants already issued to the promoter group and borrowings. The sanction took total planned spending on the fibre, cable and preform programmes to about ₹1,800 crore, including about ₹980 crore already approved, and was expected to lift capacity to 43.10 million fibre km of fibre, 62.00 million fibre km of cable and 600 tonnes of preform. The company had earlier backed a 300-tonne preform facility costing about ₹580 crore and a ₹215 crore data-centre connectivity project as part of its fibre-led expansion. Consolidated revenue was ₹4,949 crore in the year to March, with exports at 41.4% and the order book at about ₹26,665 crore at the end of the June quarter.

HFCL has won a ₹2,666.09 crore contract from Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) to execute the BharatNet Phase-III project in the Uttar Pradesh (West) Telecom Circle. The scope covers supply of telecom equipment, installation and commissioning, creation of an optical fibre cable network, and maintenance for ten years including a one-year warranty.
