May 19 (Reuters) - Indian paper and packaging board maker JK Paper JKPA.NS reported its seventh consecutive quarter of lower profits on Monday, as high prices of wood pressured its margins.

The company's consolidated net profit plummeted 72.4% from a year earlier to 762 million rupees ($8.9 million) for the quarter ended March 31.

Indian paper manufacturers are grappling with the dual pressures of escalating wood prices —a key raw material—and lower-priced imports over recent quarters.

The industry has appealed to the government to restrict low-quality imports and provide support amidst global tariff pressures, particularly from the United States.

"Profits have been significantly impacted due to surge in imports at low prices and high wood cost," Managing Director Harsh Pati Singhania said.

JK Paper's net revenue from operations declined by 1.7% to 16.90 billion rupees, while expenses increased by 10.4% to 16.09 billion rupees, primarily driven by raw material costs.

This resulted in its margins shrinking to 4.7% from 15.2%.

The New Delhi-based company declared a dividend of five rupees per share.

Smaller rival Andhra Paper ANDA.NS posted a near-80% drop in quarterly profit earlier this month, while West Coast Paper Mills WSTC.NS and Emami Paper Mills EMAP.NS are yet to report results.

Jan 29 (Reuters) - India's JK Paper JKPA.NS reported a fall in profit for a sixth straight quarter on Wednesday, hurt by higher raw material costs and weak pricing power.

The paper and packaging board maker's consolidated net profit tumbled 73% year-on-year to 653.9 million rupees ($7.6 million) for the quarter ended Dec. 31.

Indian paper makers have grappled with cheaper imports and elevated prices of wood - a key raw material - over the past few quarters.

Additionally, these companies have been forced to sell their products at lower prices as demand remains subdued following a post-pandemic surge.

JK Paper's net revenue from operations fell 4.4% to 16.32 billion rupees during the quarter while total expenses rose 5%, led by an 18% jump in raw material costs.

BENGALURU, July 24 (Reuters) - Indian paper and packaging board maker JK Paper JKPA.NS reported a fourth straight decline in quarterly profit on Wednesday, hurt by surging costs.

The company's consolidated net profit after tax fell nearly 55% year-on-year to 1.40 billion rupees ($16.7 million) for the quarter ended June 30.

Higher raw material costs led to a 25.1% rise in expenses, pressuring the bottomline, while net revenue rose 8.2% to 17.14 billion rupees.

JK Paper, which supplies office paper, coated paper, writing and printing paper, and packaging boards, has customers in more than 60 countries, according to its website.

A significant drop in market prices coupled with a surge in the cost of wood adversely affected the company's performance during in the first quarter, it said in an exchange filing.

The company's managing director in the previous quarter said that selling prices continued to remain subdued due to rising imports.

Peer Emami Paper Mills EMAP.NS will report its quarterly results next month.

JK Paper's shares ended 1.7% higher ahead of its results.

BENGALURU, Feb 7 (Reuters) - Paper and packaging board maker JK Paper JKPA.NS reported a plunge in third-quarter profit on Wednesday, hurt by surging input costs.

Consolidated net profit for the three months ended Dec. 31 fell 28.6% year-on-year to 2.35 billion rupees ($28.3 million), its second straight quarterly profit drop.

Input costs for JK Paper ballooned almost 24% to 8.97 billion rupees, echoing a similar rise in expenses for rival paper-maker Andhra Paper ANDA.NS, which reported a 51.5% fall in its profit in the quarter.

The climb in raw material costs led to JK Paper's total expenses climbing nearly 21%, far outweighing a 4% climb in its total income.

Sales of its packaging products, which include boxes and cups for food, beverages and fast-moving consumer goods, rose during the October-November festive season when consumers typically splurge on non-discretionary products.

Still, revenue growth was restrained as elevated inflation levels slowed consumer spending through the last year.

JK Paper's total income growth had slowed to 11.9% in the April-June quarter and 1% in the July-September quarter.

Peer Emami Paper Mills EMAP.NS reported a nearly 28-fold jump in profit, helped by a slump in expenses.
