Vineet Jain, the chief operating officer of V-Mart Retail, resigned on Wednesday to pursue a new opportunity, the company said. Jain, who was also a senior management personnel, will step down after the close of business on July 15. The board has appointed Anand Agarwal, the chief financial officer, as the new chief operating officer in addition to his existing responsibilities, as part of a succession plan. Jain said the decision was made after considerable thought and that he would ensure a smooth transition.
